1. Find your WHY
Why you exercise? Do you want to be healthy, to lose weight, to maintain your weight or because you enjoy it? There are different reasons why people exercise, because it makes them feel good or because they enjoy it; find your why and stick to it. I love running, not only because is free and doesn’t require any equipment but because is one of the best activities to burn fat and gives me a high of endorphins and dopamine each day. After you find your why, find an activity that you enjoy.
2. Find an activity that you enjoy
Find an activity that you enjoy and do it frequently, it doesn’t matter what it is, it can be walking, biking, swimming, taking a tennis class, or a Zumba class. Find an activity that will keep you active, indoors or outdoors. These days there are thousands of activities that you can choose from; choose an activity that matches your personality and your lifestyle. I like running because I can do it outdoors, breathe fresh air and enjoy nature.
3. Be Consistent
Remember, keeping active is finding an activity that you enjoy and being consistent; this will help you keep your routine in the long run. If you don’t enjoy a sport, the chances are that you will quit it sooner or later. Find an activity that you can do on a regular basis, that you can add to your weekly schedule and daily routine. Put it in your calendar; if it is not scheduled is not real.
4. Schedule time to exercise
Put it on your schedule, iPhone, calendar or a sheet of paper, if is not on your agenda is not real. As any important meeting, you put it on the calendar, set a time to exercise. It has been demonstrated that people who workout in the mornings is more successful in keeping their routine than those who exercise later in the day. If you can’t exercise in the mornings, choose a time that works for you and be consistent.
5. Remember your WHY
Your why will keep you motivated in the long run. Your why, is the reason you wake up one hour earlier to exercise and make better food choices. Look at exercise as an opportunity to have fun and improve your health, not as an obligation that you have to meet. If you exercise frequently, you will live a more healthy and happy life, guaranteed!
